The capital in 2017, visited more than 21 million guests, which allowed the city to earn about 600 billion rubles. This was reported by the deputy mayor of Moscow on economic policy and property-land relations Natalia Sergunina, quoted by the official website of the city government.
“And in the coming years, tourism revenues will grow,” the official said.
Mayor Sergei Sobyanin estimated the income of the capital from street festivals of 60 billion rubles. According to him, festivals create a flow of tourists, which is measured by tens of millions of people, while the turnover of shops and catering in well-maintained streets is growing by 20-30 percent.
Since 2016 in the capital, among other things, there are street festivals under the general title “Moscow Seasons”. Their theme is determined depending on the time of year: “Journey to Christmas”, “Golden Autumn”, “Moscow Spring”.
