The Catalan Parliament declared independence from Spain

The Parliament of Catalonia proclaimed independence from Spain. This is reported on Friday, October 27, Reuters.

Three days earlier, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy dismissed the head of the Catalan government Carles Puigdemona. Thus, Madrid enacted Article 155 of the Constitution of Spain, which allows the introduction of temporary direct administration of autonomy.

The referendum on independence was held in the region on October 1. More than 90 percent of the voted in favor of Catalonia out of Spain.
